The cars of "Mad Max: Fury Road"

Thursday, April 30, 2015

Car and Driver shares some of the amazing vehicles used for the upcoming remake of the post-apocalyptic film Mad Max, Mad Max: Fury Road, starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, coming to theaters on May 15, 2015.
Here are 10 of the vehicles featured in the film. But this is nowhere near a comprehensive catalog of the 150-or-so lunatic machines conceived by production designer Colin Gibson and built by the production company. Information on the mechanical substance of these is sketchy because, unfortunately, we weren’t on the set.

That noted, keep in mind that practically all the stunts seen in Fury Road were done “practically,” which means physically, in the real world, using actual cars and living stunt people. What computerized graphic trickery was used in the film was reportedly to clean up shots and digitally erase safety and camera riggings.

Street artist Wanksy paints penises over potholes on the road

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

A mystery street artist who calls himself Wanksy found a way to get his local government to fix the potholes on the roads in the greater Manchester area, by drawing penises over them.

From The Mirror:
The mystery campaigner, whose works are all completed in non-permanent paint, said: “The roads of Manchester are in an appalling state, especially around Bury.

"I have cyclist friends who have been hospitalised.

“They damage vehicles. Sometimes it’s hard to know which pothole caused the damage because there are so many.

"When I’ve finished in Ramsbottom, I’ll move on to the rest of Manchester.”

He added: “I wanted to attract attention to the pothole and make it memorable.

"Nothing seemed to do this better than a giant comedy phallus.

"It’s also speedy, I don’t want to be in the road for a long time. It seems to have become my signature.

"I just want to make people smile and draw attention to the problem. It seems to be working, judging from the Facebook fan page.”

And he insists his methods are highly effective - with year-old potholes filled within 48 hours of his artwork. Others are fixed in a week.

Johnny Cash performed on beer bottles

Tuesday, April 28, 2015

In their latest video, The Bottle Boys (previously) perform Johnny Cash's songs Folsom Prison Blues and Ring of Fire using beer bottles as instruments.
This Bottle Monday we are really proud to present one of our favourite artists: Mr. Johnny Cash. When we are on tour we almost always listen to him to get in the right mood before our concerts, and both Folsom Prison and Ring of Fire were always on the Karaoke playlist when we went partying at night time while we were in Japan earlier this year. :-D

The songs are a perfect combination of great melodies and a really cool and down to earth groove underneath. We wanted to honour Cash’s style with a really simple look in our video, where we can just focus on what it is really about: the music!

Furthermore Johnny Cash’s songs let us experiment with different ways of playing on the bottles and lets us bend a lot of the notes to get closer to the way of singing all the blue notes. And in this video we even introduce a brand new thing: the bottle pluck. Even though it looks quite straight forward playing bass on the headrack and plucks on the table, the multitasking was quite challenging in the beginning. But we don’t play bottles because it is easy, but because it is hard! :-D

What each state has more per capita than any other

Monday, April 27, 2015

Real estate website Estately has created a map of the United States that shows what each state has more of than the others.
Deciding which American state to live in isn’t easy. It’s like entering an all-you-can-eat casino buffet with the limitation of only being able to choose one food item. Before deciding where to live and buy a home it’s important to be informed, which is why Estately has compiled this map and list of what each state has more of per capita than any other. Some are good, some are bad, but all are unique to that specific state.
