The new Ghostbusters

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

Director Paul Feig has announced the cast of the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot he's working on, which will be starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Saturday Night Live's Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

From The Guardian:
McCarthy and Wiig starred together in Bridesmaids, which Feig directed. Jones and McKinnon are both cast members on Saturday Night Live, as were original Ghostbusters Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray. The film is expected to start shooting in New York this summer.

After being approached to direct the project, Feig then decided to cast all female actors and make an entirely new film rather than a sequel. He told Entertainment Weekly: “I love the first one so much I don’t want to do anything to ruin the memory of that. So it just felt like, let’s just restart it because then we can have new dynamics. I want the technology to be even cooler. I want it to be really scary, and I want it to happen in our world today.”
