So, basically .Middle Earth is where China is headed. Sweet!

The Shire is Taiwan
Minas Tirith is Hong Kong
Ringwraiths are internal security agents (Guoanbu)
Eye of Sauron is the computer security system (run by Google) that hunts down dissidents.

Not entirely fair... Just because they didn't mention as many female characters doesn't mean it's part of the race's biology.

I always knew that Lord of the Rings was a sausagefest

Ok, I hate to let my geek show, but as a feminist, Tolkien is one of my favorite authors. One of the female elven characters saves the hero’s life – not by nursing him to health or being sure takes his jacket, but by scooping him up while on horseback and facing several of the third nastiest creatures in the Tolkien universe – the ones that no one else dares face through the rest of the movie. One Elven woman led a nation of forest elves and is the one of only two characters who managed to avoid screwing up holding a ring of power. Another (Eowyn) kills the second nastiest creature in the stories, after he defeats several men, while basically stating “I’m not a man – a man couldn’t handle this s***”. She also faces a creepy misogynist by refusing to let him get to her, then threatening to behead him when she feels threatened. Tolkien wrote her as the kind of woman that was pleasant and great to be around until she needed to kick some butt, and then she took care of business. Frodo and Sam would have never made it to Mordor without Eowyn’s help. That girl saved the world, and she didn’t flinch while she did it. Show me another male writer from the period that gave women the same guts, the same resolve and the same power, and I’ll shut up.

Oh, and when the king refuses Eowyn's advances, she spends all of 5 minutes getting over it - because she has people to save.
