50 states stereotypes

After graduating college, Paul Jury took a 19,000-mile road trip through all 48 contiguous states, in an attempt to find a direction in life, and wrote the book States of Confusion. He also made this 2-minute video in which he stereotypes all the 50 states:

Video would have worked way better if you where in each state making the comments about that state (this was not done in most of the shots by car tags, backgrounds, etc where not in the respective state).

I'd like to know what Paul Jury meant about serial killers in Michigan. His hand gesture seemed to make it the Upper Peninsula while his other hand made cereal the Lower Peninsula. Maybe his hand on the Upper Peninsula didn't meant only the State.

Can you help me?

I can see how other states could be offended by what he said. But in Wisconsin it really is too cold to be sober. Go Pack!
