Follow-up: Roland B., the top model

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

A month ago, the Internet was taking on the challenge of helping Roland Bunce, an "average-looking" 24-year-old guy from Belfast, win the Make Me the Next Top Model 2011 competition. He won with 66,000 votes, compared to 89 for the blonde who took the second place.

Sadly, Roland, who was to move on to the next stage of competition where 250 finalists will be judged down to 50, has announced that he is pulling out, after receiving huge numbers of insults and even threats from irate web users.

Again what I find worse about this is that the companies involved will preach for more average sized and styled models when it comes to that time of year. I think the fact that he got the backing (for whatever reason) could be life/time changing. The fact that the people with the power fuck him back under the rock that he came from is disgusting.
