High school girl's touching coming-out speech

Kayla Kearney is a senior student at Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa, CA. and she is giving a speech about being gay in front of her whole school during an assembly honoring Dr. Martin Luther King jr. She tells it like it is.

I'm sick of the LGBT community equating Dr. King and African American Civil Liberties.

No, you were never made to sit on the back of the bus, you were never banned from being gay at school, you were never enslaved as a race of gays, and it will never ever be the same, so stop making this racist and unintelligible connection.

They're just asking to be treated equal. That's why they refer to Dr. King. Just asking to be equal.
