Church altar smites devout Catholic:
A devout Catholic who popped into church to thank God for a his rescue from a lift was crushed to death by a 860lb stone altar, the Telegraph reports.

Police spokesman Roman Hahslinger explained that Gunther Link, 45, was "a very religious man and had been scared when he was trapped in the lift and had prayed for release".

He continued: "A short while later he was pulled out of the elevator and he went straight to the church to thank God."
God works in mysterious ways...

How is that mysterious, or God's work? It's not like he prayed and then God suddenly made the elevator work. No, he prayed and then people who are doing their JOBS (Firefighter, etc) pulled him out.

I bet an atheist in the same situation would have been pulled out, by a firefighter DOING Their job, in quite the same manner.

No one gets stuck in an elevator and gets left there. I fail to see how this is the work of God. No, this is the work of firefighters. Doing what they are paid to do. Pulling people out of elevator shafts.

Disregard that, failed to read the part where he gets thrashed by a pillar.

...Kind of changes the story a little bit.

*embarrassed*

...But I'm sure that could happen to anyone!
