Camera shy person of the day

Friday, February 24, 2012

There's a ninja in the news room. And they're doing it wrong.

Multimedia journalist Kristin Giannas, the person caught in the video, explains what happened on her personal blog:
Make a long story short, in my zombie-state I left the edit bay and moseyed over to the printer to pick up some papers. I remember staring into a bright light.... and it took me a few seconds to realize that light was atop a camera feeding a newsroom live segment INTO OU NEWSCAST! Once this all clicked, I had seconds to make a decision and, being so quick and smooth on my feet, I decided it was a good idea to, elevator-style, drop it like its hot behind the printer.

I'm jealous that David can blame the dentist.

DIY animatronic kitty ears

Friday, February 24, 2012

Inspired by Neurowear's Necomini, Instructables user abetusk put some things together to create her own mind-controlled cat ears.
I wanted to build something that wasn't too expensive and was easy enough to be done in a sitting or two. I picked out some cheap servo motors, some craft supplies, spent a weekend or two developing code to control the servo's from a microcontroller and after much trial and error, I built some kitty ears that I think are pretty decent.

Movie trailer: 'American Reunion'

Thursday, February 23, 2012

In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie characters we met a little more than a decade ago return to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn't and that time and distance can't break the bonds of friendship.

It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler's mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about—and get inspired by—the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.

Hero dog loses face after saving the lives of two girls

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

(click on image to view unblurred)

From Dogheirs:
Kabang, a small family dog, is being credited with saving two children from a dangerous collision when she threw herself into the path of a speeding motorcycle that was about to hit them in Zamboanga City, Philippines.

In December, cousins Dina Bunggal, 11, and Princess Diansing, 3, were walking across Nuñez Extension, and did not notice the motorcycle speeding towards them. All of a sudden, Kabang, the Bunggal's family dog, appeared out of nowhere and jumped towards the motorcycle.

Kabang saved two children from being hit by a vehicleThe dog's head landed directly on the motorcycle's front wheel and got her snout stuck in it, but her actions stopped the bike. The children stumbled, and the motorcyclist suffered a few bruises, but both the children and the motorcyclist were unharmed. Unfortunately, Kabang lost the top part of her jaw and face.

Kabang is being treated for her injuries by a veterinarian. She now uses her paws to eat and is back to her old self, playing with Dina and Princess.

George Clinton needs your help

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Funk legend George Clinton and his Parliament-Funkadelic family recording studio are in a bit of trouble these days and they need some money to restore and preserve their original recordings and for urgent repairs and upgrades to their studio. They need $50,000 and they took to fund raising site Indiegogo to do it.
Countless acts of copyright fraud, theft, and intellectual injustice have and still continue to attempt to derail the funk from fulfilling its mission. As George fights daily for the funk, this campaign acts as an opportunity for us to unite and return it to its rightful owners.

As George continues to battle for the rights to his own songs we are looking to expand our self-sufficient nature, as to not need the powers that be: record labels, lawyers, and publishers. By expanding our own studio and creating a better environment for the housing of George's classic material past and present, we are creating an opportunity for this and future generations of funkateers to be able to continue to spread the message that "Everything Is On The One!" and we are "One Nation Under A Groove". As we put a stop to corrupt figures who continue to claim rights and ownership of the funk from the shadows, we are creating an environment that enables the funk to live on forever.
