Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Cage

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

A video starring Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Cage out of freakin' nowhere: apparently the man your man could smell like wants to be the Marvel superhero. So he made this teaser trailer happen, trying to prove his suitability for the role.

A Youtube commenter helped out:
Look at you, now back to me, now back to you, now back to me, sadly you aren’t me, but if you start to get some radiation tests in prison you could be as strong as me, look down, back up, where are you? You’re on the streets of New York with the skin and strength you could have, what’s in your hand? I have it, this piece of coal that you’ve got somewhere, crush it with you bare hand, the coal is now diamonds, anything is possible when you’re a Marvel Character. I’m in a movie.

Bug eats turtle

Friday, May 27, 2011

A clear case of 'you're doing it wrong' from the animal kingdom:
A giant water bug has been photographed eating a juvenile turtle in an unusual predatory role reversal.

Dr Shin-ya Ohba recorded the unusual behaviour during night sampling in western Hyogo, central Japan.

Writing in the journal Entomological Science, Dr Ohba describes observing a Kirkaldyia deyrolli eating a Reeve's pond turtle in a ditch next to a rice field.

Using its front legs the giant water bug gripped the turtle, inserting its syringe-like rostrum into the prey's neck in order to feed.

Giant Bin Laden destroys NYC and Washington

Thursday, May 26, 2011

From The Onion:
NEW YORK—Just weeks after his body was buried at sea, Osama bin Laden burst forth from the ocean depths early this morning, rising to the monstrous height of 500 feet and rapidly making his way down the East Coast of the United States in a rampage expected to leave hundreds of thousands dead and easily eclipse 9/11 as the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history.

Currently, much of New York City and Washington, D.C., including the Empire State Building, the White House, and the Capitol Building, lay in ruins, with overwhelmed rescue crews struggling to assist a country ravaged by the gigantic, irate al-Qaeda leader.

"Our nation faces its gravest challenge yet," a visibly shaken President Obama said, interrupting his prepared remarks to both houses of British Parliament in London. "I cannot say that we will prevail, only that we will fight to the last."

"May God help us all," Obama added as the walls and ceiling shook around him.

[...]

Maria Kushner, one of the lucky few to escape via the Coast Guard vessels arrayed along the East River, told reporters she looked back to land and saw bin Laden using the Empire State Building as a club to pulverize the U.N.'s headquarters.

"There were all these soldiers shooting at him, but he was relentless," Kushner said. "Just smashing and smashing. It's like he killed 3,000 people on 9/11 and finally came back for everyone else."

"Isn't that fucker supposed to be dead?" added Kushner, who told reporters she would never forget looking out her office window on the 72nd story of a Midtown skyscraper and seeing nothing but bin Laden's enormous eye looking back at her. "Why isn't he dead?"

The human balloon

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Compressed air turns NZ trucker into human balloon:
A New Zealand truck driver said he blew up like a balloon when he fell onto the fitting of a compressed air hose that pierced his buttock and forced air into his body at 100 pounds a square inch.

Steven McCormack was standing on his truck's foot plate Saturday when he slipped and fell, breaking a compressed air hose off an air reservoir that powered the truck's brakes.

He fell hard onto the brass fitting, which pierced his left buttock and started pumping air into his body.

"I felt the air rush into my body and I felt like it was going to explode from my foot," he told local media from his hospital bed in the town of Whakatane, on North Island's east coast.

"I was blowing up like a football," he said. "I had no choice but just to lay there, blowing up like a balloon."
