In an outtake from a recently unearthed interview with filmmaker Stanley Kubrick, conducted over the phone in 1980 by Japanese journalist and ufologist Jun'ichi Yaoi, the cult director explains the meaning behind the ambiguous ending of his sci-fi masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey.
