The city that stops every year for one minute

Every year, on August 1st, the city of Warsaw, the capital city of Poland, comes to a complete halt for about one minute. The citizens commemorate the Warsaw Uprising, a failed operation of the Polish resistance aimed at liberating the German-occupied capital that led to the loss of 200,000 lives and left the whole city in ruins.
