How we got to be 7 billion

As you may have already heard, yesterday was the day the 7 billionth of us was born. The first billion landmark was reached in 1804 and it is estimated that we'll be over 10 billion by 2100.

Here's a video showing the evolution from 1,000 AD, when there were 0.3 billion people on Earth.
