Shar Pei gets a face-lift

No more wrinkles for this one: Roland the abandoned shar pei undergoes a facelift to stop going blind from entropion:
Rather than the vanity that motivates hounded Hollywood stars into seeking plastic surgery, Roland the abandoned shar pei has had a face lift so he won't go blind.

As a shar pei, Roland is highly prized for his wrinkly skin, but the breed suffers from entropion, a painful condition in which his wrinkles cause his eyelashes to turn inward and rub against his eyeballs.

If left untreated the condition could have caused Roland to go blind and was preventing him from being rehomed. The solution: A double eye lift and full face lift.

Cruel.

It's more cruel to leave them with entropion so their eyelids roll into their eyes and make them go blind. Surely you'd rather a dog live a happy life with a once and for all facelift, than to be forever undergoing trauma to its eyes from the lids? And then being blind on top of that, eventually?

I'm an RVT I've seen enough surgeries on the faces of these dogs - I'd take a face lift any day over the alternative.
