Those are the new digital tires. I hear they can crush over three hundred hands a second when on the right bike. That's like 1500 fingers a second. They're working on a version that has several boys suspended around the wheels, rotating around so there are always fingers for the tires to grip. Without the need for the special ed class to line up whenever anybody wants to go anywhere, they'll just strap them to the bikes and eliminate those costly classes. They're allowed to catch animals with their feet as they go by for food whenever they want. The biggest expense is Dramamine, for motion sickness.
This is an impoverished region, and the boys you see here are auditioning to be part of the wheel systems. Their relatives and schoolmates watch closely, hoping that one extra mouth will go off to fend for itself.
