i is an imaginary number in mathematics. The imaginary unit for which i2 (i squared) = -1
< is a mathematical inequality.
When she wrote i <3 u, she meant it not as a mathematical equation, but a revelation of her love. He, being a math geek, saw the <, thought of it as an equation, saw the i all alone, and said to himself "This isn't possible, the chicks got marbles in her head."
When she realized the futility of a relationship between a person with an I.Q.<90 and one with I.Q>130, she left the chat rather than be thought a fool by the man she loves.
Later that night she walked in front of a car whose speed she had badly miscalculated. She was brain dead, but her geek built a support system for her body in his basement. It served his needs for years. If she had known, she'd be proud to have served him, without the humiliation of stupidity.
