Man who threw shoe at Bush jailed for three years:

Muntadhar al-Zaidi pleaded not guilty to charges of assaulting a visiting head of state as his trial resumed in the Iraqi capital today.

He was greeted by cheering crowds as he arrived at court last month with an Iraqi flag draped over his shoulders.

In court he said that any Iraqi would have reacted in a similar way. Reports are still emerging from the court by Mr al-Zaidi reportedly shouted "long live Iraq" as the verdict was announced, which itself caused several of his family members to faint.
