Unfortunate nest place

Monday, August 25, 2008

This bird built it's nest on a fence pipe. And it slipped in, going all the way to the bottom, along with it's little chicks. The pictures are very sad.

drown 'em. it's the only decent thing to do.

take a hacksaw, cut the post a little above the chicks, but don't cut post off completely.. just enough you can bend it back and get to the chicks. Rescue them. Bend the post back and fill with quickcrete.

I second the second suggestion.

Come on, it's not that hard to free these birds. I saw this happen once with a support column of a building (one of those hollow supports like on a Greek temple, not crucial to the building stability but that couldn't be removed either) but this is just a pipe that's part of a crappy fence. Somebody help the birds out...

I think the world will be ok with or without these birds. Leave them alone.

I SAW SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPEN WHEN AN EWOK BUILT A HUT ON TOP OF A FALLEN IMPERIAL WALKER AND IT FELL THROUGH THE CRACKED VIEWPORT!!! LooL361

Can it be done with suction?

Also, try and shove/drop down a tissue to cover them before you start cutting. They're hungry and likely to keep their mouths open for a while, and they might end up with beaks full of iron filings otherwise. :p

I agree with the last three words of the second post.

Use a shop vac and a long hose. Sure, they might be a bit mentally messed up for a day or three but they will be alive and able to eat.

A single M-80 should do it.

Leave them, and let evolution take it's course.
