Sports hall roof collapses mid-game

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

The roof of a recently-opened sports hall in the Czech city of Ceska Trebova has collapsed during a floorball game on Saturday evening. Although over 80 people were inside the arena right before it happened, no-one was hurt, all of them managing to escape.
It is not clear why the roof suddenly collapsed, arena designer Tomas Fris told reporters, adding that all construction standards were observed. There was a 25-centimetre layer of snow on the roof before the accident, but Fris said the snow could not have caused the collapse.
