New "Seinfeld" episode created using clips from "Curb Your Enthusiasm"

Monday, February 29, 2016

Actor Topher Grace has edited a new, 9-minute Seinfeld episode, using footage from Curb Your Enthusiasm - Season Seven, in which a reunion of the show, with the original cast members, was brought together.

I edited all the Seinfeld scenes from Curb season 7 into one episode. It’s more like a radio play, but if you sew together all the dialogue from audition scenes, read-throughs and rehearsals together… a 9 minute hint at what the plot of a reunion might have been.

A clever montage of "Fargo" movie and the TV series

Monday, February 29, 2016

Video artist Arnau Orengo has edited footage from the original 1996 Fargo film and from both seasons of the TV show of the same name, to create a seamless montage that makes it look like they all make up the same story.
Although telling a new story with different characters in each season, the title is not the only thing in common between the 1996 movie and the series: the snowy Minnesota location, a lot of blood, dark humor, some characters (and even their surnames), some events and even one that sets the series in the same universe as the film.

In this video I wanted to connect some of the events, characters and scenes of the movie and both seasons, to see how similar they are.

The Dowager Countess’ finest burns

Monday, February 29, 2016

In honor of the finale of Downton Abbey coming up on US television, Slate has created a compilation of the best instances of Lady Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith) doing what she did best on the show.
As Americans enjoy the final episodes of Downton Abbey on PBS, it may prove especially difficult to depart with one character. What will we do without the dowager countess, Crowley family matriarch and side-eye royal? In particular, how will we do without her burns? As delivered by Maggie Smith, who won back-to-back Emmys for the role, the dowager’s insults represented the id of a fading English upper class. They were also some of the funniest on TV.

How do you film a conversation? Most likely, you’re going to block the actors, set up the camera, and do shot/reverse shot. But where do you put the camera? What lens do you use? And how do you cut back and forth? Today, I consider the Coen brothers — Joel & Ethan — and see how these choices lend a particular feel to their version of shot/reverse shot.

Note: We’re aware that he’s also credited in Poison Ivy (1992), but we choose not to include that film, because his scene was either cut or he appears somewhere in the background as an extra. There’s no consensus on which scene he appears in or if he’s seen at all.

Thursday, February 25, 2016

In anticipation of the Oscars this weekend, FlyAbuDhabi.co.uk has put together an infographic that showcases some of the filming locations of the nominated movies.
This is one of the most important aspects of the film: to choose a location which perfectly replicates what the director is trying to convey through their film. Some films are sometimes even set in a different location to where they’re actually filmed, maybe for lower costs, or because a particular location just appeals more to a director.
Our latest infographic looks at all the films that are nominated for Oscars, the nominations they’ve been nominated for, and where they were filmed, as well as some information about the filming location.

10 biggest inaccuracies in popular films

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

Screen Rant points out ten of the most noteworthy inaccuracies found in Hollywood movies.
Whenever movie fans see the “based on a true story” title card before a film, they know that what they’re about to see didn’t really happen. Even when working with fact-based materials, directors will use their artistic license to spice things up and make their project more interesting. While that typically makes for a better story, it doesn’t mean everyone’s happy about it.

"Deadpool" deleted scenes, missing characters and removed jokes

Monday, February 22, 2016

Mr. Sunday Movies shares some deleted scenes, missing characters and removed jokes from the latest superhero blockbuster Deadpool.
The amount of people who have given Deadpool a watch has proven that there is massive success to be had in an R rated comic book franchise. But like all movies there are a number of Deadpool scenes left that ended up being deleted including extended joke sequences that will probably end up on a gag reel, crippling insults and things deemed too violent even for this movie.

The Deadpool movie also went through a number of drafts that had the inclusion of an alternate set of villainous henchmen, the major action sequences being shaved right down, a PG-13 cut that nobody probably wants to watch and a list of unexpected names on the Dead Pool bar kill list.

New OK Go video filmed in Zero G

Friday, February 12, 2016

The guys from OK Go have released another one of their creative videos (previously), for their latest song Upside Down & Inside Out, which was filmed in a single take, in zero gravity on board Russian S7 Airlines flight, that provides brief near-weightless experiences.

The longest period of weightlessness that it is possible to achieve in these circumstances is about 27 seconds, and after each period of weightlessness, it takes about five minutes for the plane to recover and prepare for then next round. Because we wanted the video to be a single, uninterrupted routine, we shot continuously over the course of 8 consecutive weightless periods, which took about 45 minutes, total. We paused our actions, and the music, during the non-weightless periods, and then cut out these sections and smoothed over each transition with a morph.

You can spot the moments in the video when we skip ahead in time because they are points when gravity briefly returns. This happens at 0:46, 1:06, 1:27, 1:48, 2:09, 2:30, and 2:50.

Jonny Depp stars as Donald Trump in Funny or Die parody

Thursday, February 11, 2016

In Funny or Die's Donald Trump's The Art Of The Deal: The Movie directed by Ron Howard, a quasi-unrecognizable Johnny Depp stars as the business magnate turned politician, with full-blown comb-over and all. Partly based on the billionaire's self-promoting and bestselling book of the same name he wrote in the 1980s, the 50-minute mockumentary was launched in the same day as Trump's victory in the New Hampshire primary, and also features appearances from Ron Howard, Alfred Molina, Patton Oswalt, Andy Richter, Robert Morse, Stephen Merchant, Christopher Lloyd, Kristen Schaal, Kenny Loggins, Alf and more.
Donald Trump has it all. Money, power, respect, and an Eastern European bride. But all his success didn’t come for nothing. First, he inherited millions of dollars from his rich father, then he grabbed New York City by the balls. Now you can learn the art of negotiation, real estate, and high-quality brass in this illuminating made-for-TV special feature, Funny Or Die Presents Donald Trump’s The Art Of The Deal: The Movie.

Ben Carson's awkward entrance at the Republican debate

Monday, February 8, 2016

In case you've missed it: Republican candidate Ben Carson caused an awkward moment, when he missed his cue while they announced his entrance, during the presidential debate in Goffstown, New Hampshire, on Saturday.
Saturday night’s Republican Presidential Debate in New Hampshire got off to a great start even before it started. As ABC News’ David Muir introduced the candidates, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson caused a comical logjam in the wings when he missed his introduction. The camera then remained trained on Carson backstage as the other candidates skirted around them as they were introduced, and as a stage manager tried to get Carson to go take his mark.

Real estate mogul Donald Trump then also missed his intro, twice, instead standing by Carson as the other candidates went around them, although the move might have been one of solidarity with Carson. When Trump finally did take the stage, poor John Kasich was still absent, seemingly forgotten, until the moderators finally got around to bringing him out.
