The Earth filmed from the stratosphere

Some German students embark on an interesting project: filming the Earth from an altitude of more than 100,000 ft. The solution? An HD camera attached to a helium-filled weather balloon.

The whole construction weighed about 1kg (2.2 lbs), it got up to 30,500 meters (about 98,000 ft) and it traveled about 80 km (50 m).
