The Cordylus cataphractus, or the Armadillo Lizard is a weird and pretty cool looking species of lizard that lives in the desert in South Africa. It lives in habitats of up to 40 individuals and is called the the Armadillo because of its appearance and similar defense mechanism: when it senses danger, it grabs its tail in its mouth and rolls into a ball, exposing only its armored back.
