Norwegian Prison

They say life in prison is tough. Well, not in every prison. Take a look at this one in Norway. I guess this is the kind of prison where you don't have to think about how to avoid getting anally raped every night.

There's anal rape but it's in pleasant surroundings.

In american prisons they probably use something worse, like Vista.

You are about to get sodomized. Allow or Deny?

this puts my college's dorms to shame... and i bet there's less anal rape there too.

Yeah, lol. That's better than where I was at university. That's not to say that the prison is too nice, just that universities treat their students like crap.

I saw a documentary once where there was a guy in Sweden who was going to prison. He was driving there together with the film crew and when they arrived they first thought they had taken the wrong way because it didn't look like a prison at all. It looked more like some kind of farm - it didn't even have a fence around it.

Read the book "Marching Powder" same type of prison in South American third world country Bolivia.

I wonder if many riots involving mass-burning of mattresses happen in this kind of prison

If it was a hostel, I would ask for informations on booking...

I wonder why most Norwegian don't go to prisons in purpose. If I were there, I would think about that... you even learn a job!

but at university, you can get drunk, smoke weed and have sex, as well as leave at any time.

Relax its a minimum security prison, when people get here the have a like 6 months to a year left on their sentence they don't want to fuck up and stay in the system.

The anal rape is probably romantic.

(It's actually nicer than my flat.)

what crime do i have to do to go there?

It is so much better than most crappy LA apartments.

and cool workshop. I don't have space for one here.

Could someone find a crime that wouldn't hurt anyone so I could live there please?

Anonymous said...

I don't get it. Looks like a pretty standard prison.

What do you think the inmates require most, that anal rape you speak of or basic education and healthy exercise?

Why is it funny? Why do you want to go to prison to learn a job? They probably have schools there too you know...

This is nothing.. You should se photos from the prison island where rapists and murderers move around almost freely, an live in a forced society!

As for the childish rug in the last picture, I'd reckon it's from the room in which inmates get to spent some time with family. They have a few hours each bi-weekly or something, in which they have total privacy.

Anonymous said...

No wonder Norway is full of foreigners doing criminal carriers... Who the fuck is scared of spending years in a place like this, you even get paid to stay there, you know....

Anonymous said...

The room that has toys in it is a "family room" for the inmates.

And yes, this is a low security prison for people that has commited a not so serious crimes like drunk driving and minor economic frauds...

nice prison...makes me wanna go to prison too :s

Norway is a small country, we are just over 4 milllons. Around 200 to 300 gets killed in traffic accidents yearly, murder is not common, riots don't happen as prions are much like hotells. But, we do have maximum security prisons in Norway too that can house the bad guys if needed. In Norwegian prisons you get paid, and you can get education for free. But, right now prisons in Norway are full so the criminals don't have to serve time....nice system?

VerY Nice not live Guantanamo :D

Throw some "brothers" in there & come back in 6 months. It will be crap hole just like any US prison.

This is nothing... You should see the prisons in my country. I am almost ashamed, of how well criminals are treaded in my country

I worked in a prison in Indiana where the accommodations were almost as good as this. It was in Rockville.Since that time it has become a women's prison. The older inmates at that time were being acclimated to live outside an institution. Also some of these were cops, mayors,or snitches who were being protected.I did not envy these men . It is a pain in the ass to be a prisoner, even under good living conditions.

Norway is the richest country in the world. It is the cleanest country in the world, has the most beautiful nature, the most beautiful and intelligent people, the best health care, and very few religious nuts. It is governed by the socialist party, the labour party and the agrarian party. You obese, backwards, bigot American capitalist pigs get what you deserve, just like we Norwegians do.

Anonymous said...

It's just another concept of justice. In Norway prison is not a punishment or a revenge, it's a rehabilitation and reintegration place, when possible. Max Greene is right: the lack of freedom and intimacy is a quite hard punishment itself when it's long-term, you don't have to add more shit to it.

Anonymous said...

"In Norway prison is not a punishment or a revenge, it's a rehabilitation and reintegration place" Exactly. When these people are eventually released back into civilization they wont be raving psychotic monsters bent on revenge, but as productive members of society.
That the plan anyway and it seems to work just fine.

This is a prison for people who got caught drunk driving. They usually serve two weeks, and have to make pallets. Not exactly murderers or rapists.

Curtis said...

Nobody in the world has the right to say how Norwegians should be doing things; one look at their society should be enough to know they are well involved in their own well being, and that they do not need any outside assistance.

Anonymous said...

Well, I guess this is the sort of things that separate Nordic countries from the rest of the world. Strong State participation, Nanny Social Security, free and highly qualified public school, free quality health care, inteligent, civilized people, few corruption and homogeneous money distribution, strong labour laws, no corporative extraordinary profits, the lowest unemployment rates, and this "liberal laws" (well, what shall we do? the problems exist, we have to deal with them the best way)... What really surprises me is that we have this example for the rest of the world and we still see strong right winged capitalist parties all across Europe claiming "free market" and "minimal state" ... so it leaves me with one question ... WHERE THE FUCK ARE PEOPLE´S MINDS??? WE HAVE THE PERFECT EXAMPLE AND YOU STILL VOTE FOR THAT CONSERVATIVE BASTARDS???

Anonymous said...

Prisons in Norway is that that. : - )

Anonymous said...

This is a prison system based around an ideology that says that it's better to give a man a proper second chance at life than to mistreat him for x number of years and then throw him back out to his criminal friends. It works. Others could learn a lot from this.

Anonymous said...

And anyone is wondering why there is so much crime in Scandinavia?

Because those immigrants are not afraid to go to this 4 stars luxury hotel.

Cornelia said...

I'm from norway. I think its sick! People wants to come to prison, because they have a better life there than on the outside!

Another Norwegian said...

Cornelia is either lying or misinformed. Either that, or the people she hangs around with are quite, quite stupid. The prisons may not exactly be unbearable, but life on the outside will still be preferred by almost anybody else.

After all, those cells are small, if well-kept, and your freedom is limited. Almost everybody has a nicer place outside than there, with the exception of addicts and illegal immigrants. And even those get free housing - after all, addiction is punishment enough in and of itself, whereas deportation is enough of a punishment for illegals. Although illegals who use that offer will know that it means that they will have to leave soon, willingly or not...

You... call it... a PRISON?!!! Men, how is it possible that every Norwegian doesn't break the law to get to this cozy hotel and break it again as soon as the "punishment" is over? It's a luxury comparing to my own room. And if the political system and economy is so awesome, why there are so many suicides in Scandinavian countries? Left wing's hypocrites... And last thing - I do not deny that Norwegians are nice, intelligent people but... Varg Vikernes would be treated otherwise in - for example - French Guyana (have you watched "Papillon"?).

Budde said...

It's pretty much like in Denmark, but we also have PS3, culture house and shops.

Abe Froman said...

Hey "Fearless Wretch"

1.) Suicide rates tend to be higher in places with high annual rainfall (ever heard of Seattle?) and in countries that far north or south of the equator.

2.) Just because the prison looks nicer than where you live doesn't mean everyone will share your belief that breaking the law = holiday.

3.) Papillon was a movie based on a fictional "autobiography".

4.) A society is judged by how well it treats its most vulnerable--Ghandi Given that prisoners are stripped of every right save for those given by God, who could argue that they are not vulnerable.

and 5.) Enough with the damn ellipses. There are 13 other standard punctuation marks. Please learn them. You write like an idiot.

Fearless Wretch said...

Hey, Abe Froman!

1) In my country people don't commit suicide just because of the weather. They would rather find other solutions to their problems, because they believe that suicide is a sin. And Norway isn't famous for the piety of it's people.

2)Breaking the law isn't holiday. Stay in this kind of prison is holiday.

3)I've never said that story of "Papillon" is true. I just wanted to compare conditions. Stay in prison should't be a reward.

4) The most vulnerable are unborn children and elderly ones. Not the criminals.

5) If you are a lefty, then I name you servant of pure evil.

Anonymous said...

In a smaller country it must be easier to manage people I assume.

Anonymous said...

Wow, Fearless Wretch. You're retarded.
