Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve introduces the third prequel to his upcoming movie Blade Runner 2049 (previously: 2048: Nowhere to Run, 2036: Nexus Dawn). This short, written and directed by Cowboy Bebop's Shinichiro Watanabe, comes in the form of an anime and travels further back in the past than the previous two, being set only 3 years after the first movie, but offers the most insight.
