Retired electrician turns up with 271 original Picassos
Tuesday, November 30, 2010

Picasso treasure trove surfaces in France:
Hundreds of unknown Pablo Picasso works worth tens of millions of euros have surfaced in France in the hands of a 71-year-old retired electrician who says they were gifts from the master.via
Dating from the first third of the 20th century -- considered Picasso's most fertile period -- the 271 pieces are valued by experts at more than 60 million euros (80 million dollars), France's Liberation newspaper reported.
And the new-found drawings, paintings and studies are now at the heart of a legal tug-of-war between the electrician, Pierre Le Guennec, and the artist's heirs who believe they must have been stolen and have filed for charges.
Le Guennec says he worked installing alarm systems at several of Picasso's residences, including a villa in the Riviera city of Cannes, during the three years up until the artist's death in 1973.
He said he was given all of the works, either by Picasso's late wife or by the artist himself.

Tuesday, November 30, 2010
Following the release of sensitive U.S. diplomatic cables, the Republican ranking member of the Homeland Security Committee [Peter King] said that the administration should designate WikiLeaks a "Foreign Terrorist Organization" as the organization is damaging "not only our national interests in fighting the war on terror, but also undermines the very safety of coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan."Vote on MSNBC. Music time: David Lynch - 'Good Day Today'
Tuesday, November 30, 2010
Looks like the cult director's into something new these days because he recently released two debut singles through a British independent label. Here's one of them:
"I've always loved sounds and so I built a studio where I can experiment with sound, and gradually I started experimenting with music. I'm not a musician, but I love to experiment and try to make music."The Guardian
"I was just sitting and these notes came and then I went down and started working with Dean [Hurley, his engineer] and then these few notes, 'I want to have a good day, today' came and the song was built around that."
Quote of the day
Tuesday, November 30, 2010

From Pfc. Bradley Manning, about how he pulled off the biggest leak of classified information in American history:
"I would come in with music on a CD-RW labelled with something like 'Lady Gaga' … erase the music … then write a compressed split file. No one suspected a thing ... [I] listened and lip-synched to Lady Gaga's Telephone while exfiltrating possibly the largest data spillage in American history... [I] had unprecedented access to classified networks 14 hours a day 7 days a week for 8+ months"The Guardian

Loch Ness monster: new pictures and sighting of Nessie:
Richard Preston, a landscape designer, has been the latest person to spot a mysterious shape that might be the Loch Ness monster and capture a series of images on camera.via
While working on Aldourie Castle gardens on the banks of the Loch Ness, 27-year-old Mr Preston spotted a shape on the loch's surface out of the corner of his eye.
He told STV News: "I was just walking through the castle gardens and I spotted something in the distance. When I looked closer I could clearly see the four hump-like features. I thought I’d take a picture of it, to see if there was anything in it, to see what others thought."

Hilarious animal street fight of the day
Friday, November 26, 2010
A cat is being harassed by a couple of annoying crows. The situation incites another cat, who, after a while, decides to step in. An epic fight ensues. Drama is added by the background music, which, as I understood, was cut and added by Youtube user ignoramusky.
