Condor Chick Fed by a Puppet Mother

Monday, February 25, 2008

Condor chicks bred in captivity at the San Diego Wild Animal Park and Los Angeles Zoo are being fed by caretakers using hand puppets shaped like a condor heads.
This is done primarily to ensure that the birds grow up with appropriate condor responses to their world and are not imprinted on or are fearless of humans. This will serve them better when they are released to the wild. (The San Diego Zoo)
