Extended quarantine can do things to your mind

Monday, December 12, 2016

After being diagnosed with a drug-resistant form of tuberculosis he got from a trip to South America he took in late 2009, Sydneysider Christiaan Van Vuuren was placed in a quarantine for about six months, in a 4x3-meter hospital room. To fight boredom, he made a series of videos in which raps about his state of mind, and after posting them on YouTube, they have earned him the name of The Fully Sick Rapper. Here's one he made after 55 days of quarantine:
I was eventually let out of hospital on the 2nd Jan, but then brought back in on the 18th Jan and diagnosed with a more serious form of TB... As a result, I have been back in quarantine since the 18th Jan, and all up now I have spent 55 days on the inside of a single room in hospital... This is starting to take it's toll on my mental stability, and this song is about the impact (or lack thereof) it has had so far.
