How the secret edits in "Birdman" were made

As part of their Frame by Frame series, The Film Theorists explain how Alejandro González Iñárritu, inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's 1948 film Rope, used camera tilts, whip pans, push-ins, blurred and dark screens in his cuts, to make it look like Birdman was filmed in one long continuous shot.
