The beaches of Normandy, in 1944 and 70 years later

70 years ago this Friday, on June 6th 1944, The Normandy landings aka D-Day - the event that marked the beginning of the Allied invasion of German-occupied France during WW2 - took place, and to commemorate the occasion, Reuters photographer Chris Helgren compiled archive pictures taken during the invasion and went back to the same places to photograph them as they appear today.
