Why we need feminism?

Friday, April 13, 2012

In an effort to open dialog on the subject of feminism and its importance, the students attending the Women in the Public Sphere course at Duke University have started a Facebook page, where they encourage people to talk about it.
Identify yourself as a feminist today and many people will immediately assume you are man-hating, bra-burning, whiny liberal. Perhaps a certain charming radio talk show host will label you as a 'Feminazi' or 'slut.' Even among more moderate crowds, feminism is still seen as too radical, too uncomfortable, or simply unnecessary. Feminism is both misunderstood and denigrated regularly right here on Duke’s campus.

Our class was disturbed by what we perceive to be an overwhelmingly widespread belief among students that today’s society no longer needs feminism. In order to change this perception on campus, we have launched a PR campaign for feminism. We aim to challenge existing stereotypes surrounding feminists and assert the importance of feminism today.
They also ask their fans to submit photo statements:

Feminism should be considered as mental illness just like vegetarianism is.

<3 Above comment. And yeah, simply put they can get to fucking off, feminism is a manipulative tool with no real link to the problems addressed in the pictures (how is "femenism" a concept, going to stop rape; a real life action)... This is why 'mericans complain about problems with women and getting them, too much segregation. It's like saying communism is the reason for economic breakdown, it has no affect because the concept in itself is inept.

Thanks to to the women's movement and "feminism", women today have more equality, and the issues addressed above have improved. Call if whatever you like, but we're better off because of it.

Feminism at this point is no longer needed. The original goals of feminism have already been accomplished. Decades ago. Women can now vote, go to any college a male can and now they can choose whatever career field they want.

Any movement that focuses on their own 'group' while ignoring or even shitting on others in the process does not want equality, but rather superiority.

Theres TONS of statistics that actually prove women are significantly favored over men. Theres more double standards against men than women, the worst part is they are more severe.

"Feminism" is ironically obsessed with imitating men. Whatever a man does, the feminist wants to do, too. Feminists suffer from a massive case of penis envy: economically, culturally, and politically. They idealize and romanticize the exploitative power of elite men, while ignoring poor and working class men. But feminists still need men to build, repair, and deliver everything. Feminists are too LAZY to build their own society and will always rely on men for their standard of living.

Feminism...why even put a name to your movement? What do men call it? Non feminist movement? Give the world a break. Nothing but a manipulation movement.
