Also, it's 'really glad' instead of 'real glad.' The word 'really' would be, in this case, an adverb--describing how glad he and his friend are. And, technically, double quotes are more stylistically accepted to mark verbatim speech rather than to call attention to certain part of a sentence. Just sayin'. The 'comic' strip is called Grammar Nazi.

Yes it is 'me and my friend'.
'My friend and I' is formal, and they have no reason to be formal with the opposition head.

a grammar nazi wouldn't mind the split infinitive, because it's pretty common in german
