why not just get a tatoo? it will look the same, and you don't have to CUT OFF skin. it totally isn't worth it. i all for expressing yourself but in like 5 years that thing is going to be NASTY. scars change over time. at least with a tatoo is easier to touch up.

Determining who is a waste of skin is only a matter of opinion. You don't have to like what's here (and personally I'm with you) but you don't need to be jerkoffs. Everyone is different. Some people watch scat vids, some people are disgusted by a simple burp. People are different, get over it.

It's awesome, don't get me wrong, but it'll be ruined as the years pass. I agree that a tattoo would be better but this is being unique in a way. The idea of making a piece of art by removing skin from someone is quite weird and disgusting but is an interesting way of expression. This does require an amount of bravery or courage or whatever you want to call it to inflict pain on ones self. I admire you and am disgusted at the way that that awesome work of art came upon you.

Say it to my face! It's me, girl with the scar. My names Corinna. No, I am not emotionally disturbed. I was not crying out for help or acceptance. I was simply interested in an art form that has been going on for thousands of years in many different cultures. I could have gotten a tattoo, yes...but I wasn't purely doing it for the work. I was doing it for the experience. I feel that being able to concentrate through pain makes you a stronger person. I can call on that experience when things get tough and remind myself that if I want to, I can get through anything. I also really love that it is textured, that you can feel the design...not just see it. It has healed beautifully. I have had it for almost four years now. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I can see how people are disturbed by these images, but I just hope people can open their minds a little and accept both what I have done, and what other cultures are doing across the world. As for the people who liked it, thanks!

I think it's very pretty as a design, but I'd go for the tattoo instead of the scarring just to minimize risk. That's a lot of open wound there.
i can see doing this if it's part of your culture. but frankly this is just someone who is desperately trying to be unique, get attention and do it for the sake of their "scene" or whatever the fuck this kind of style is.

It is a piece of art. Did you even know that it hurts less than a tattoo? It's a desired different final effect with skin and scar tissue rather than ink and other colours. So if you want to call it "showing off", go ahead but you better put tattooing and piercings up there (including your nostril and navel rings). Who the hell cares if she carved her skin or marked her body in such a manner. Look at cultures all over the world that cut there bodies that tattoo there faces that cut of clitorises of female so they cant feel anything (note they bash it off with a rock) all of which are rights of passage. The point is its culture and the thing about this country America is that it doesn’t have any culture and what culture there is has decayed and diminished. On the other hand the beautiful thing of this country is you have the right to live what ever culture you damn well please. For this young lady to take something from one culture that this earth has and to adapt it into a amazing beautiful peace of art that’s elegant and complimentary to her body is a wonderful thing. Yes there are those out there that may find it grotesque sickening and over all wrong but look at this countries culture again. In this country people modify there bodies everyday. From clipping your nails and cutting your hair to lifting weights and bodybuilding to liposuction and breast implants and numerous other surgical procedures people go threw. People do all of this to better them selves not to impress others. Her cutting is amazing and beautiful to her. To endure a lengthy procedure like that of that magnitude of pain makes her more of a adult than anybody in this forum.

People in accidents and burn victims would die for their skin to be perfect again and for them to not have scars, but yet people will go get themselves cut for art? Wow. It looks beautiful. I'd never do it myself, but who am I to judge? The only thing that I'd be concerned about (other than the pain) would be that it must take a long time to heal, and while it is healing, it would be exposed to dirt and bacteria, even if the wound was bandaged. That would be one painful infection!!! I guess everything has its risks.

That's beautiful.I think scarification has some pretty results,but I think I'll stick to tattoos.Scarification is just another form of body art,if the person truly wants it done and has thought it through than I don't see a problem in it.

nice, i read about it now, and its really interesting body art, came from the Africa tribes, its fact, i understand that you did it for personal pain experience, interesting how old were you when you made this. I am pretty open minded i think, i dont have tattoos or piercings but i like to see special body art on other people. Truly i dont really care about the pain, pain isnt forever, i care more for the diseases and for the bacteria you can get from this open wounds. I saw some pictures of people who got disease and it spread to be something unormal even mutant. Well nice, at least you know what real pain is unlike the rest of us here.
